We are pleased to host our first of two outdoor concerts this summer continuing our 6-year collaboration with Trail Mix, the music production brainchild of Steve Ploum. We present Lowest Pair, a versatile two person banjo/guitar band. Kendl Winter and Palmer T. Lee, both accomplished banjo and guitar players who met when they were both playing a Minnesota music fest in 2009. But it wasn’t until 2013 that they formed The Lowest Pair. Working with producer Dave Simonett of the progressive bluegrass band Trampled by Turtles, they recorded their debut album, 36¢, which was released on New York indie Team Love Records. Since, and in addition to some solo work and collaborations with other bands The Lowest Pair produced a half-dozen more LPs. Each received high praise from many publications. We refer you to the Trail Mix website for the many noteworthy reviews of their music in various music publications.
Trail Mix, has now become a “roots” Music Concert Series: roots music refers to all traditional music genres and styles that draw on musical heritage, including folk but also includes, jazz, blues, country and zydeco.
The opening band, who will hit the main stage at 7pm, is the way-fun, southside Chicago folk/ bluegrass band, BadHand. And very special this year, soon after the doors open at 6pm, under the pavilion we will feature local favorites, Bugs Still Fly, which you can appreciate while enjoying pizza, gourmet wraps, soft drinks and water served by Izaak Walton volunteers as well as adult beverages served by Flossmoor Station.
As always, buying tickets early is helpful to us all: pre sale tickets are cheaper, the first 75 tickets sold are guaranteed a dry seat should the weather drive us indoors AND strong presales strengthens the appeal of Trail Mix for attracting bands in the future communicating that the south suburbs are not just fly-over territory for artists seeking to play Chicagoland.
